A Letter to Me, 10 Years Ago
This is the second part of my 10-year anniversary reflection.
After sharing the 10 biggest lessons I’ve learned from blogging and building this business, I wanted to take a moment to write to the version of me who started all this – a letter to the girl who was so excited to be starting her business but deep down wanted to feel seen, heard, and whole.
Hey you,
You’re sitting there wondering if any of this will ever matter.
You’re exhausted – from trying to be fine, from saying yes when you don’t really want to, from pretending you have it all together when you’re barely holding it.
It feels like reaching your goals is taking so long.
You don’t know it yet, but this blog you just started will become your lifeline.
Not just a creative outlet, but a place to process, to write your way through pain, to find pieces of yourself you didn’t even know were missing.
It will empower you to share your story and find connections on social media. Which you’ll need on your own healing journey.
You’ll go through seasons that change everything – heartbreak, burnout, loss, healing. You’ll stop chasing the version of success you thought you wanted and start chasing peace instead.
Your goals will change but it’ll still feel like it’s taking so long to reach.
You’ll learn that being seen doesn’t have to mean being perfect.
That rest isn’t a weakness.
That softness can be sacred.
You’ll write things that feel too honest, too raw, too much – and those will be the words that help someone else feel less alone.
You’ll find women who say, “I thought I was the only one.”
You’ll find healing in the process of helping others heal.
And you’ll learn that it’s okay to outgrow the things that once fit.
Your dreams will evolve, your voice will shift, and your confidence will grow.
You won’t be afraid to be seen for who you actually are.
Ten years from now, you’ll look back and realize:
You weren’t just building a blog – you were building you.
So keep writing.
Keep healing.
Keep trusting that even the quiet seasons count.
I’m so proud of you.
So much love to you,
Caitlin
If you’re in a season that feels uncertain, I hope this letter reminds you – you’re allowed to start small, take breaks, and change your mind.
Growth isn’t always loud. Trust the process.
