Back to the Salon
The last 6 months or so I started to really miss working in a salon. I spent a lot of my life picturing myself working in a salon and it started to hit me that I was pretty far removed from that lifestyle now.
[Backstory – read this post. I left the salon in 2017 when the owner no longer wanted part-time stylists. I had some life events going on at the same time and it was going to be tough to make a move to a new salon. So, I decided to take a break but hoped that I would be back one day.]
As I’ve worked with my coach to overcome limiting beliefs I realized that my dream life is coaching and working in a salon. The beauty industry, the time abundance, helping women feel good about themselves. I want to do all of that all the time.
So, what made me go back? It happened fast, actually.
When I realized how much I missed the salon, I also realized that 2023 gave me the things I needed in my life. A new job. The love of my life. So when I felt that pull, I followed it. In December, I met the owner of the salon I’m now working in. They all took a chance on me which means I’m taking a chance on me, too.
I met the owner of the salon, through a friend of my sister. When we met we hit it off. I feel like she’s a longtime friend already. And I’m thrilled that she wants to mentor and support me. It may seem strange – but that’s something I used to hear in salons and it didn’t happen.
So, I’ve been at the salon for a few months now and it’s all coming back. *cue Celine Dion song* Thanks to all my coaching I’ve done over the last few years – I’m restarting with a new mindset that I didn’t have before – one of a business owner. Which actually lines up perfectly with my coaching. Using my training as a mindset coach, my business degree, and everything I know about the beauty industry, I can help other stylists that want more of their careers.
The last few years I’ve said that I just know there has to be purpose from my pain and shared my journey and experiences with other women. Now, I get to show them the comeback, too.
I hope and pray that this continues to work out for me. Entrepreneurship is hard. Like every other business owner on the planet, or person wanting to make a pivot in their career – I question myself all the time. But, trying for the things placed on my heart is kinda fun. And sure beats not trying and just wondering, what if.
